Domenico Ruccia parodistically revisits the aesthetics of the famous golden years, the 1970s and 1980s.
The process traverses the world of entertainment and music, along with the great icons of the era.
The artist compares two realities, one Italian and one foreign, from which Italian pop culture draws much inspiration.
The artist's intent is to merge two realities, compare and revisit them, creating a painting that implies familiarity and dialogue with a time other than the present in its idols and patterns.
Domenico Ruccia's paintings are a mirror to play and interact with the past.
"These little divertissements are thus quotations, sequences that allow for play and interaction with other decades through the contemporary."
Recent projects include
In 2018 he exhibited at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome;
In 2019 he collaborated with RAI and director Ivan Cotroneo;
In 2023 he had a solo exhibition curated by Piersandro Pallavicini.

In the diptych Spiritus Mundi, Domenico Ruccia traces a personal atlas in which, between black/grey spaces of pause, references from the artist's imagination are inserted.
Imagination takes hold in a collage of painting that merges and juxtaposes characters, references and icons of the artist's historical period of reference: fashion, commercial pop culture, politics, cinema, a global set of collective memories that make one smile and reflect on the relationship of that historical period with the present world.
