The artist investigates the concept of physicality and body , now understood as a place to live in a fluid form, now as silent presences that attract the gaze of those who pass by.
Sofia's artworks are bodies – not bodies , understood in their broadest meaning: they are spaces that everyone can inhabit, so that those who look at them can merge their body into the work, eliminating the interstitial space.
Just as in the human organism the spectator exchanges his own reflection, forms and thoughts with the works.
In the body system, light plays a fundamental role, which crosses, works and acts together with the works, sometimes suggesting feelings of melancholy and silence, sometimes uprooting the body from its three-dimensionality, transforming it into a fluid that moves with the light itself.
“Slow your heart rate to observe. Be silent in the place of the apparition and listen to the canvas of the world. Reflect the light and with it the whole universe…
After the apparition there is the return: the return of the light, the return of the images, the return of the reflections…
In this way, the bodies
colors that I propose return, from time to time, changed by the world that observes them, altered by the truth of light but present, from time to time, in the strength of their bodies that inhabit their own space".
